In my research, I’ve read many suggestions on how to fix this but most of them involved painting over the interior or removing the lining entirely. The NAIL POLISH remover is the best option if you do not want to pay to have the pockets re-done. It will literally wipe away the sticky mess. Just use the nail polish remover pads, and scrub until the sticky mess is gone. Then wipe with a paper towel and leave out to dry. I was also thinking of adding lining with fabric from Michael's. If you google it, you'll see a huge problem in Japan especially where it's very humid. The lining and pockets often need to be replaced with certain bags! It seemed like no matter what I tried the lining was just messy. I undid the stitching that held the lining in (which also held the zipper) and removed the entire lining then used alcohol to remove the sticky residue that held in it place. Then I stitched the zipper back. It was a giant pain.
