The local Canadian Tire store here has a motomaster branded full synthetic multi spec fluid thats merc v compatible .99 for a five liter jug, believe its a shell product. I would NOT use a 'multi-spec ATF thats Merc V compatable'. Users share their experiences and opinions on different brands of ATF certified by Ford for Mercon LV applications. Some suggest using Valvoline Maxlife, Kendall, Castrol, or Mag 1 Low-Vis instead of Peak or Walmart's Mercon LV. Somebody posted here on the forums that they went to their local Ford dealer to purchase XL-12 and was told it was discontinued and Mercon LV was the replacement fluid for the transfer case. I imagine cost might be the driver for someone to select a multi vechicle fluid, however i have a local vendor that has access to genuine Dexron VI and our local Canadian Tire sells licensed Dexron VI.
