The 233 holds all the traits that one would want in a modern Panerai - a brushed 1950 case (with crown protector), sandwich dial, awesome domed crystal, and most importantly, a Panerai in-house movement. My 233 is my favorite PAM reference, but while setting the date this past March the movement actually failed on me (the whole thing locked up) necessitating a full service. Panerai did the full service, a light polish and replaced the main plate and handset at a cost of about 00 and it took a bit over two months.
